NAVY. The new “it” color
Navy is everywhere. You will see it in the fashion magazines as well as in all the home decor spots. Whether you use it as an accent color to give your neutrals a “pop” or paint an entire room in this rich and sultry color, you can’t go wrong.
GRAYS are moving on… finally
We all love gray...and it not going away completely, it’s just no longer going to be everywhere and on everything. If you are not ready to end your relationship with gray, use it more sparingly with a brighter color pallet or warm it up as discussed below.
It’s all about EARTHY BROWNS.
Rich and earthy is the moving trend. Medium rich stained woods with a refined finish will be replacing the weathered beachy gray wash whose time has come and gone.
And beware of the elusive TAUPE
What is taupe? It’s gray mixed with earthy browns. Or as I like to call it “warmed up gray.” This color will add touch of sophistication to your room and provides a perfect backdrop for those navy accents. Just beware that in certain lights, taupe can have a pinkish tone. Test this color out before you commit.
Say “Goodbye” brushed/satin NICKEL.Really….it’s time. And there are so many amazing finishes available, from soft pewters to intensive oil rubbed bronze to gold and brass (don’t knock it till you read below).
What does that mean for stainless steel appliances?Black stainless and high gloss colors are coming to an appliance store near you!Say “hello” to brushed GOLDS, worn BRASS and refined furniture.These are NOT your parents’ or grandparents’ polished golds and brass. We are talking about burnished and soften warm finishes that shout style from every room. You will see these warm finishes in jewelry, plumbing and lighting fixtures and furniture and I promise...you’ll love them.
…and BLACKJust like the black stainless appliances, black chrome is oh so sexy. Check it out. If the shine is too Hollywood for you, matte blacks are popping up everywhere and making a sophisticated and bold statement.
Lions & Tigers and cowhide… oh my!Animal prints have been around for a while and they aren’t going anywhere. Especially notice the cow hide frenzy in all the magazines and stores...from shoes to fashion accessories to hide rugs, chairs and even wallpaper!
And friggin’ MARBLE everywhere!There are few things out in the world that are more naturally beautiful than marble. That being said, marble is also one of the most high-maintenance surfaces to work with. Fortunately, the industry has come up with a solution - quartz.
